Saxon K-3 Mathematics
Overview
Saxon's K-3 mathematics series is a hands-on, success-oriented series that emphasizes manipulatives and mental mathematics. This primary series is designed for a multisensory approach to teaching and enables children to develop a solid foundation in the language and basic concepts of mathematics. As with all Saxon programs, the K-3 mathematics series is based upon incremental development, continual practice and review, and cumulative assessments at regular intervals.

Benefits

    Parents:
** Teacher's manuals contain scripted lessons that provide appropriate language along with proven teaching and questioning strategies.
** All student materials are bound in two consumable student workbooks and one consumable meeting book.
** Instructions for correct use of manipulatives are included.

    Children:
** Learn from a variety of multisensory techniques that utilize mental mathematics and manipulatives.
** Develop a solid foundation in the language and basic concepts of mathematics.
** Build confidence in applying skills to everyday situations.

Phonics
Overview
Saxon Phonics K-2, for primary students, and Phonics Intervention, written specifically for the older, struggling reader, prepare students to be successful, independent readers and spellers. Supported by the research on effective reading instruction, Saxon's phonics programs are appropriate for all students, including students with learning difficulties.
Benefits

    Parents:
** Scripted Teacher's Manual guides parents and provides background and support to ensure the successful teaching of each lesson.
** The teaching tools include all necessary materials for instruction.
** Assessment lessons diagnose reading difficulties and provide remediation activities.

    Students:
** Daily practice and review provide the time required for concepts to become totally familiar.
** Concepts are taught incrementally so that students can be successful in every lesson.
** Student workbooks allow practice of new and previously learned concepts and serve as a reference.

4-8 Mathematics Overview
Saxon's 4-8 mathematics series builds upon the hands-on, activity-centered approach of the K-3 mathematics series. Although some hands-on activities are included in the 4-8 series, the focus shifts gradually from the use of concrete objects to mathematical modeling and problem solving using pencil and paper. As with all Saxon programs, the 4-8 mathematics programs are based upon incremental development, continual practice and review, and cumulative assessments at regular intervals.
Benefits

    Parents:
** Concepts are explained clearly and in simple, straightforward language, allowing parents who are new to teaching mathematics to relearn it.
** Weekly cumulative tests are available in blackline Test Masters, freeing parents from building their own test questions.
** Each problem in the daily problem set includes lesson numbers for parents and students to refer to for other examples of that problem type.

    Students:
    ** Automate basic skills.
** Learn to successfully solve multistep problems.
    ** Strengthen mental math capabilities.
** Master fundamental concepts such as ratios, proportions, and percents.

9-12 Mathematics
Overview
Saxon's 9-12 mathematics series comprises three texts: Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Advanced Mathematics. The 9-12 mathematics series is fully integrated, covering topics including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, discrete mathematics, secondary level precalculus, and mathematical analysis. Students finishing the three-text secondary mathematics series should be well-prepared to study Saxon's Calculus or to take calculus in college. As with all Saxon programs, the 9-12 mathematics programs are based upon incremental development, continual practice and review, and cumulative assessments at regular intervals.
Benefits

    Parents:
** Concepts are explained clearly and in simple, straightforward language, allowing parents who are new to teaching mathematics to relearn it.
** Weekly cumulative tests are available in blackline Test Masters, freeing parents from building their own test questions.

    Students:
** Develop a solid and rigorous foundation in precollegiate-level mathematics.
** Approach complex problems with confidence.
** Prepare for college entrance exams such as the SAT or ACT.
** Apply mathematics to other disciplines such as chemistry and physics.
